What is Rökheim?

Rökheim is the universe in which Super Dungeon Bros plays out. Within Rökheim there are 3 unique and distinctive worlds, including;

  • Cryptheim – An underground dungeon complex where the dead are received and processed. The souls are separated from their skeletons; the skeletons are used for hard labour and cannon fodder, and the souls are converted to mana for sorcerers. Filled with Bonies and ruled by Duke Spook'em.
  • Chillheim – A huge brewery built upon a natural non-spewing geyser of brew, surrounded by rugged ice covered peaks. The brewery bottles up the brew and distributes it to all five corners of the land. The Brew Queen rules, and roams the halls singing twisted ballads in her frozen throne that control her huge Ice Golem pet. She commissions a league of Gnomes for brew development. These Gnomes manipulate Ice Trolls to do the manual labour and basic janitorial duties.
  • Bogheim – Sprawling jungles filled with poisonous plants and animals, home to a death cult of demonic Frog men who worship their leader, known only as The Toad. He controls the other members of the cult by outlawing the rule of rock and using only the bog music that he has popularised. The Bros best tread careful in this land, as their rock brosomeness could be a problem for the residents.

Each world in Super Dungeon Bros has a total of 5 depths to play through with each depth getting progressively harder. You will encounter a Mini Boss midway through the world as well as a Boss at the end of the 5th depth.

How do I level up my character?

In Super Dungeon Bros you level up your weapon over the course of a gameplay session (or dungeon depth). Once you have completed all of the dungeon depths in a single world, your weapons will be re-set, however, any weapons you have unlocked as a result of your play through will still be accessible in the Bro Shack.

What weapons will be available?

There are 16 weapons over 4 weapon classes to unlock and collect in Super Dungeon Bros. These include Swords and Hammers (Melee weapons) as well as Crossbows and Wands (Ranged weapons).

Each weapon has attack, defence and ultimate strength as well as differences in attack patterns. For example one sword may have increased strength but will be heavy and take longer to use, while an alternative sword will be faster to use but have a weaker attack strength.

Each weapon class will also have a different combo attack.

  • Swords – Light attack with 4 successive hits and the 5th hit will provide a heavy attack (when using the light attack button).
  • Hammers – Light attack repeatedly up 5x combo and the heavy attack will increase in strength with each combo.
  • Wands - Buff other characters when hit by the weapon. Effects vary by weapon. *Except when friendly fire is active
  • Crossbows – Will have a limited number of arrows which require a reload (or cool down) after a certain number are fired. Your arrows will auto regenerate when the weapon is not in use.

When you first start playing Super Dungeon Bros each player will have access to 2 weapons, including; a Sword (the Aegis of Incursion) and a Crossbow (the Pain Hailer). Additional weapons can be unlocked by collecting Shards.

Furthermore, there are a number of alternative weapons that you can use in game, including;

  • Bros – Use your fellow Dungeon Bros to your advantage by hurling them at advancing enemies!
  • Crates & Explosives – Scattered throughout each world are a number of crates and explosives. You can also use these to your advantage by throwing them at enemies.
  • Enemies – Yes! You read that right! Use the enemies of Super Dungeon Bros as weapons in the same way as using your Bros!
  • Traps – Super Dungeon Bros is littered with pesky traps (both manual and automatic) that are designed to slow you down! However, use these to your advantage by luring enemy hoards into automatic traps or work as a team and activate the manual traps at just the right time!

How do I unlock additional weapons?

In order to unlock more weapons, you will need to collect shards. Shards are awarded when you defeat a Mini Boss or Boss character. Mid-way through a world you will encounter a Mini Boss, or at the end of the world you will encounter the Boss. At the end of each dungeon depth (there are 5 dungeon depths to each world), once you have defeated the boss, you can go back to the main menu and enter the Bro Shack. This is where you can use the shards you have collected during your gameplay to unlock new weapons. There are 16 weapons in total and everyone will start with a base set of 2 weapons.

What are Missions?

Missions are side objectives that complement the main game and each day players will be presented with three Missions to complete. When completing these Missions, players will be rewarded with Shards depending on the difficulty of the Mission. A few examples of the Missions in Super Dungeon Bros include;

  • Untouchable - 1 Bro takes no damage through 1 complete dungeon depth.
  • Hammer King - Beat the game using just the Hammer!
  • Time Lord - Complete a dungeon run in under 30 minutes!

What does Procedural Generation mean?

Procedural generation refers to the way in which dungeons are constructed. Rather than deliver the same experience each time you play, Super Dungeon Bros creates dungeons on the fly. This means that when you enter a game with your friends, a dungeon will be constructed using all the components available. This means you will never rock the same dungeon twice and each experience will be fresh and exciting.

What are Shards and how are these used?

Shards are required to unlock additional weapons and optional helmets for your Bro. There are 3 types of Shard available to collect, these include:

Green = Common | Purple = Rare | Yellow = Legendary

Shards are collected by defeating Mini-Bosses and the Boss characters from each world. Once they are defeated, a random selection of Shards will be awarded to each player depending on how quickly the Mini-Bosses or Boss were defeated. Furthermore, the reward also takes into account how much energy was used, or lives were lost by the players during the battle.

Shards can also be awarded by completing the missions of the day. The harder the mission is, the better the Shard drop will be.

What are Ultimate Attacks and how do I use these?

Ultimate Attacks are in essence a special move and each weapon type has its own variation of Ultimate Attack.

  • Swords will allow you to execute the Bronado (a whirling tornado of death and destruction that allows you to move around the dungeon quickly, sucking up your fellow Bros and dealing more damage with each Bro that joins in).
  • Hammers will allow you to execute a Brocano (an AOE attack that causes all Bros to jump into the air and slam back down to the ground, destroying both enemies and objects in the current dungeon area).
  • Crossbows will allow you to unleash the Bromentum (whereby all Bros are provided with double damage and double move speed for a limited duration).
  • And finally, Wands will allow you to create the House of Holy (a healing pool that will appear at the point it was activated and provides a health increase for all Bros that enter the pool).

Each player will have access to 2 ultimate attacks throughout each world and once these have been used, replacements can be obtained from the in game shop. You will only ever be able to replace the ultimate attacks you have used, unless you have upgraded a weapon that gives you an additional slot for a total of 3 ultimate attacks.

Who are the playable characters in Super Dungeon Bros?

You can choose to play Super Dungeon Bros as one of 4 heavy metal heroes including:

  • Axl - The muscle of the group and isn’t afraid to remind everyone. A ‘fight first, ask questions never’ type of guy, Axl will get the job done. Just as long as a huge piles of Bonie bones and A LOT of property damage are not an issue.
  • Lars - Believes himself to be quite the ladies’ man within the group. It is a shame that he becomes cripplingly incoherent once he starts talking to the opposite sex. Still, at least he has the completely unrealistic goal of trying to hook up with the queen of Chillheim to fall back on!
  • Freddie - You know that guy in a group of friends that does the stupidest and most insane things because they believe it could be funny, even if no one else will? Freddie is that guy. To say he is dumber than a bag of rocks would be an insult to rocks.
  • Ozzie - A genius. It's just a shame that his genius is used for causing mischief and mayhem on an unbelievable scale rather than making Rökheim a better place. There is a fine line between genius and insanity, we’re just not sure what side of the line Ozzie is on.

What are Daily Challenges?

Every day a newly created instanced dungeon will be generated. Can you reach the top of the leaderboards before the next dungeon appears? Take on the world or take on your friends. You only get one shot, so make it count.

Shrines can also be activated to make the Daily Challenge even harder.

What are Weekly Challenges?

Every week a newly created instanced dungeon will be generated. Your mission is to reach the top of the leaderboards. Take on the dungeon as many times as you like over the course of the week, but only the best will see the greatest heights.

Shrines can also be activated to make the Weekly Challenge even harder.

What are Shrines?

Shrines appear at the start of each world and are available throughout all the worlds of Rökheim. Shrines will either decrease or increase the difficulty of the dungeon depending on which Shrines players choose to activate. When playing with three or more Bros, the majority of Bros will need to activate the shrine in order to make it work. Activating a shrine will also affect the overall score, with harder shrines creating greater score, and easier shrines decreasing the overall score.

There are 14 different shrines to activate with four that will randomly appear at the start of each dungeon. These Shrines include;

Shrine Shrine Description Difficulty
Moonwalk You will take no damage from falling Decrease
Gentle Minions Reduces the damage done by enemies. Decrease
War God Increases the damage done by enemies. Increase
Kaboom Enemies explode on death. Increase
Enable Friendly Fire Enables friendly fire. Increase
Ragnarök Adds a time limit to complete the world. Increase
Vampire Mode All weapons have life steal. Decrease
Mini - Mini Boss Reduces the damage done by Mini-bosses. Decrease
Not-So-Mini Boss Increases the damage done by Mini-Bosses. Increase
Black Hole Increases the damage taken from falling. Increase
Beefy Player Gives each player less damage and more health. Increase
Glass Cannon Gives each player more damage and less health. Increase
Through the Gauntlet Increases speed of all traps and obstacles. Increase
Time Warp Slows down the speed of traps and obstacles. Decrease

*Shrines can also be activated on the Daily and Weekly Challenges to improve your score even further and get higher up the leaderboards!

What are Item Drops?

Item Drops are random buffs that will appear during gameplay, either by smashing crates or opening chests. There are over 20 Item Drops available and these are colour coded to a specific Bro (so no pesky thieving from your fellow players!) and will always provide a beneficial action. Several examples of Item Drops include;

  • Armor - Gives an armor life bar over the regular health bar. This must be depleted before the character's health bar is depleted. If not attacked within a certain amount of time, the armor will regenerate.
  • Enemyball - When an enemy is thrown, it will explode when hitting the ground similar to a explosive object being thrown.
  • Gold + - The amount of gold picked up by the Bro is increased and shared among other Bros.
  • Health + - The maximum amount of health for the Bro is increased.
  • Movement + - The movement speed of the character is increased.
  • Revive SPD+ - When a Bro needs reviving, the player doing the revive will now revive quicker.
  • Ninja - Trap damage is now less.
  • Life Steal - Once collected, every successful hit with a weapon will give a small amount of health back to the attacking Bro.
  • Muscles - Pick up is no longer restricted to common enemies. Mini-boss and boss characters remain unaffected.
  • Death Bomb - When the Bro has 0 health the Bro will explode similar to a explosive object.
  • Fill Charge - The amount of Ultimate charges increases by 1. Including any additional charges that have come from upgrades.
  • Extra Life - An additional team life is added for free.
  • Feather Fall - Falling from ledges or into pits will not give any damage.
  • Fill Health - Bro's health is refilled to full for free.
  • Healthy Corpse - When the Bro holding this item is knocked out, if they are revived they will gain more than the standard 30% of health for a revival.
  • Human Cball - A thrown Bro will cause an area of effect attack similar to a explosive object when they land.
  • Instahero - The chance for a critical attack which will have additional attack strength is increased.
  • Light Footed - The length of time a Bro can stay in the air during a jump is increased.
  • Magnet - The travel area of pick ups to move towards the Bro is increased.
  • Shoe Spike - The amount of damage done by bouncing of creatures heads.
  • Last Stand - When the Bro gets low on health, the amount of damage their attacks do increases.
  • Super Carry - When carrying an object, enemy or Bro, the movement speed of the affected character increases.
  • Bad Meal - A cloud of poison will constantly appear around the Bro. This will cause minor damage to enemies constantly.
  • Tumble - The travel distance of the dodge roll is increased.

There is no limit to the amount of Item Drops that could be available or the amount of buffs that each Bro can carry and or activate at the same time.

What is the Banter System?

The Banter System is a way for players to communicate with each other in game. To activate each bro’s in-game banter, simply press up, down, left or right on the d-pad. Up means to move forward, Down means be careful, Left means let’s celebrate and Right means I need help! This can be really useful if you don’t have voice chat activated.

What types of Enemies will I face?

Each world in Super Dungeon Bros has its own unique and diverse set of enemies designed to slow you down and stop you from retrieving the long lost Rock Stars! These enemies are broken down into certain enemy types that include;

  • Swarms (Very Low HP, Low Damage, Melee or Range) Swarms are satisfying enemies to mow down, and their presence allows a Bro to experience a strong sense of their own power.
  • Muscle (Mid HP, Mid Damage, Melee or Range) The Muscle is a very standard enemy. On his own, he poses a moderate threat to a single bro. The Muscle would be on the frontlines battling the Bros, giving other enemies an opening to be effective.
  • Displacers (High HP, Mid Damage, AOE Line, Cone, Range, or Close) Displacers serve the purpose of undoing the best-laid plans, keeping Bro's from going exactly where they would like to go in combat.
  • Coordinators (Complex Team Challenges) Coordinators explicitly encourage coordination and vocal communication between Bros! Coordinators reward Bros for being able to come together and accomplish mutual goals in the heat of combat, and are a big enough threat that they must be addressed early.
  • Supporters (Buff Enemies or Debuff Bros) Supporters are a subtle presence that vastly increase the threat level of other enemies around them, either by buffing surrounding enemies or debuffing the Bro's!

Can I unlock additional content?

Yes you can unlock additional content in Super Dungeon Bros. In order to see what content is available to unlock, simply head on over to the Bro Shack from the game's main menu. To unlock additional content in Super Dungeon Bros you will need to collect shards. For more information on Shards, please read the 'What are Shards and how are these used?' section. Once you have collected the correct amount of shards, you can visit the Bro Shack from the games main menu. Here you will find additional content available to unlock. Then simply select the item you would like to unlock.

How does scoring work in Super Dungeon Bros?

Scoring in Super Dungeon Bros is made up from a combination of several factors. These include;

  1. Gold collected: For every 1 Gold you collect, you will receive 1 Point
  2. Threat Meter bonus: For every level of the threat metre that is not exposed, you will receive 175 Points
  3. Shrine Bonus or Penalty: Shrines will either subtract or add points to the overall score
  4. Player Deaths: For every death, you will lose 50 Points
  5. Boss Kills: At the end of the game, you will secure a 500 Point bonus if you've defeated the world's boss

Does Super Dungeon Bros support drop in/drop out gameplay?

Can I play Super Dungeon Bros on a PC that doesn't use Windows 10?

Is the co-op in Super Dungeon Bros competitive?
